She's a star

I don't usually name my quilts but this is for the daughter of a special friend. She is a star in every way, she has a scholarship to NC State University next year and she deserves a special quilt.

My husband chose this backing. I had something else with lots of color and he said oh no. This is the man that usually doesn't notice my quilts at all. He really likes this young woman and has been so complimentary about this quilt. I used my beloved D9P but added a couple of liberated stars for visual interest.

When I was at my daughters a couple of weeks ago I was looking at a quilt that I did for her a couple of years ago. I machine quilted it and when I looked back at it I thought that's not so bad. I brought my machine downstairs yesterday and put it on my dining room table. I had lots of room and the table supported the weight of the quilt. I will definitely do more machine quilting. This was just a random pattern but it was fun.

The temperature is supposed to top 100 today. It is a good day to stay inside and sew. I am working hard to get my mojo back. What do you do when you get in a slump and are not motivated?

Mojo? Ah, mine is a laying down a bit as well. I'm cleaning and changing up a few things in the playroom and that gets me motivated. Lovely job on this disappearing 9 patch.

I love that your hubby helped choose the backing. Sometimes it's good to have a different set of eyes looking at projects. Yep, 97 degrees in my portion of NC. As for mojo? I put mine on hold as far as quilting until the heat lets up. Doing machine embroidery instead for now. Love your star quilt and the name of it! xo,

It's beautiful!! I love the quilting; it fits perfectly with the design.

I lost my quilting mojo about a week ago and so I stopped and actually organized my fabric and my sewing room. It's amazing what feeling organized did for me!

Fantastic quilt!!! Love the stars mixed in with the D9P - very effective! Your friend is one lucky young lady and I know she is just going to love this quilt! and your quilting is perfect!!!

I like Jennifer's comment... tidy the sewing room.... worked for me!! I've just sorted the scrap drawer (again) and I've still got heaps to use!!! I'm making a snowball + nine patch wall hanging using up anything that I can get 2 1/2" squares from - it's amazing what you find when you really look!!

Happy Sewing... and keep cool!!

Wow, this is awesome! It's probably my favourite quilt of yours so far. I love the stars, love the colours and the quilting is fab. I hope your friend's daughter loves and cherishes it because this is a special quilt!
